Welcome to Space Invaders - Episode IV : A new Hope.  This is a web based flash game by Pete Hobson of 99Lives.

This game is a tribute to, what I believe is the greatest game ever created - Space Invaders.  The original space invaders was produced by Tatio way back in 1987, but to this day stands as an example of what makes a game great, namely game-play.  For my version i have tried to remain true to the original and not introduce new game-play elements.  the only additions are some hopefully subtle enhancements to the graphical style.  As a side note i've also tried to keep intact the advanced features, such as the wall of death and mystery ship scoring scheme.

I've made use of some cutting edge flash techniques such as the excellent open source 3D library paper-vision, props go out to these guys.

The last new element i've introduced is the ability to add an audio clip to your high score.  I think its going to be interesting to see what people have to say!  If you have any feedback please drop over to my blog and leave a comment :)
